Makeshift bells

These old rims are used as bells by security guards in the estate where my parents live. Usually at night, the security guards hit on them to announce their presence and to warn off any marauder who might be planning mischief.

This is what I love about Nigerians in the south - the ingenuity and the ability to survive, regardless. Love seeing pics of my old hometown. I'm more sentimental about Lagos than Abia, my home state.

When i first saw the photo, i thought it was a piece of art! You know, urban art -- and this one is also practical art.

i laughed over the Oscar Wilde quote about having one wife too many! i'm a wife and i sure can agree to that!
